The 10 most common mistakes in

Lay PVC tiles

The 10 most common

mistake at

PVC tiles

embarrassed

1. adjust the PVC tiles to the room temperature.

When the PVC tiles are delivered to you, leave the PVC tiles in the room for one day by installing the PVC tiles. This is necessary so that the PVC tiles can adjust to the room temperature. If the PVC tiles are laid too quickly, they may heat up differently, making it difficult for them to click together.

2. the biggest mistake is often made before laying.

It is very important to measure the room before laying. Leave 15 - 45 cm free to the left and right to the walls, so that you still have play. And not later have to put in one side 1 - 2 cm edge tiles. This mistake can be corrected later only with great effort.

You should also take into account the opposite depth of the room. 3.

3. the surface must be clean and dry.

Before you start laying the PVC tiles, clean the room with a broom or even better, with an industrial vacuum cleaner.

PVC tiles can be laid on any solid surface. There is no need to prepare the surface or sand it flat. 4.

4. level out unevenness and holes with filler.

However, if there are larger holes in the subfloor, you should eliminate them in advance. Apply bonding emulsion to the holes in the floor and patch the areas with ready-made cement from the hardware store. PVC tiles can be laid over smaller cracks.

We recommend leveling the floor with leveling compound in case of larger unevenness.

5. the leveled subfloor must dry out well

Allow the subfloor to dry out well. If you do not allow the leveling compound to dry out, cracks may appear.

6. start laying the driveways

First lay the driveways at the entrance or to the transitions to other areas. Take so many driveways that you have about 15 to 45 cm space to the wall on the left and right.

7. very important, here you need to pay attention!

The PVC tiles now please do not, when laying with forklift, ants or anything else heavy to drive on.

There is a risk that the PVC tiles will shift. Even if it is only a tenth of a millimeter, it has a big impact.

You will not be able to get the PVC tiles clicked together. There is then nothing else left for you to do. Like removing the PVC tiles completely, and re-laying them again.

8. another classic mistake there is also when gluing.

The adhesive should be applied with a 2 millimeter notched trowel. You should make sure that you do not apply too much material on the floor, otherwise it can press them the adhesive through the click connection. The adhesive will then be very difficult to remove from the surface.

Also make sure that you do not paint too much area with the adhesive, if the area is too large, the adhesive dries too quickly. You should not paint more floor than you can install in 15 minutes.

9. good to know

You do not need to completely clear the room. Lay half the room first, then put your stuff on the side you just laid. Then move the rest of the room.

10. make sure that there is at least 5 mm distance between the wall and the expansion joint.

Depending on the room temperature, PVC tiles will expand or contract. If this does not work (no expansion joint), the floor will not be able to expand when it gets hot. The PVC floor then throws unsightly. The expansion joint must also be maintained to all other non-moving parts such as heating pipes, columns or door frames.
